Make Blood Sucking Dangerous For Mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes die soon after a blood meal if certain protein components are experimentally disrupted, a team of biochemists at the University of Arizona has discovered. The approach could be used as an additional strategy in the worldwide effort to curb mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever, yellow fever and malaria.

When the researchers blocked a cellular process known as vesicle transport, on which the mosquitoes rely to release digestive enzymes into the gut among other functions, it caused the affected animals to die within two days of blood feeding.

Global Warming 2

In my other post global warming; i talked about the causes of global warming. Am going to be discussing another aspect of global warming.

EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING.

The planet is warming, from North Pole to South Pole, and everywhere in between. Globally, the mercury is already up more than 1 degree Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius), and even more in sensitive polar regions. And the effects of rising temperatures aren’t waiting for some far-flung future. They’re happening right now. Signs are appearing all over, and some of them are surprising. The heat is not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it’s also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move.

Global Warming

Studying the event that took place in Lagos, Nigeria on the 10th of July 2011; which saw a great downpour throughout the state, one will be surprised at what warranted such event. It was serious that it continued till late in the night. Dont get ready for a story here, am not telling a story, just giving you an insight of my topic today.

You must have heard the law that says; "what you give in, is what you get". Thats was exactly what happened on Sunday. We received in "HUNDRED FOLDS", what we gave to Mother Nature. Even though we may complain that we received too much. Lol. Thats how its supposed to be. It might intrigue you to know that we were the cause of Sunday's event. The question on your mind is; HOW???
Yeah!!!! HOW??? Come-on Kingsley answer the question...thats what am here to do..am gonna be taking you by the hand round through series of events that resulted to that downpour. Just follow my lead.....

Global warming, the subject of the matter; is the current rise in the average temperature of Earth's oceans and atmosphere and its projected continuation. The scientific consensus is that global warming is occurring and was initiated by human activities, especially those that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as deforestation and burning of fossil fuels. This finding is recognized by the national science academies of all the major industrialized countries and is not rejected by any scientific body of national or international standing.

Study Explains Dog Thinking & Behavoiur

Dog owners often attest to their canine companion's seeming ability to read their minds. How do dogs they learn to beg for food or behave badly primarily when we're not looking? According to Monique Udell and her team, from the University of Florida in the US, the way that dogs come to respond to the level of people's attentiveness tells us something about the ways dogs think and learn about human behavior. Their research, published online in Springer's journalLearning & Behavior, suggests it is down to a combination of specific cues, context and previous experience.

HIV Drugs Results In Aging

A class of anti-retroviral drugs commonly used to treat HIV, particularly in Africa and low income countries, can cause premature aging, according to research published June 26 in the journal Nature Genetics. The study shows that the drugs damage DNA in the patient's mitochondria -- the 'batteries' which power their cells.

The findings may explain why HIV-infected people treated with antiretroviral drugs sometimes show advanced signs of frailty and age-associated diseases such as cardiovascular disease and dementia at an early age.
